Behold a sound experience by designer Ji Young Shon. This is called Whispering Leaves, and it’s a multiple sound speaker system installation piece of artwork installed at the Royal College of Art. It is what Shon calls a new kind of sound system interface which utilizes film-thin speakers to create for you an environment of sound unlike any other. Each leaf has a different sound, varying slightly between the shapes, sizes, and bendings.
The sound you’ll hear is magical, a mix of sources and a mix of waves, a mosaic, harmony coming from all walls. This installation piece can be installed in any sort of art gallery as it only requires that the vines of the leaves be attached to the walls. Simple. Check out the video below to get an idea of what you’ll be hearing when you see this in real life.
