Even we have to admit that glamour and gym are two words that rarely escape our mouths in the same breath. A Yanko Design workout, much as it forms a vital part of our routine, is something confined to the dimly lit basement: nothing to do with the state of our physiques – everything to do with the ugly machinery we associate with the home gymnasium.
You might remember our enthusiasm back in January 30 when we were given an exclusive preview of Antonio Citterio’s ‘Kinesis’ for Technogym? Well at this year’s Salone del Mobile , Technogym raised the bar even further. ‘Kinesis Personal’ is the product in question and it’s certainly more objet d’art than dumbbell.
With more than 200 exercises available, the 3.5 square metre piece of equipment will still push you further than any ex-military gym instructor. But it’s the new design that really gets our blood pumping. The entire thing is hand-covered in 24k gold leaf, using a traditional Florentine gilding process that takes over 60 hours for each machine. And if that doesn’t inspire you to work-out, we don’t know what will…
