This is a ball pillow project like I’ve never seen before. It’s probably the best ball pillow project I’ve had the pleasure of writing about all year. It’s the “Daydreamer” furniture piece by Feng, Cheng-Tsung and Lin, Kai-Ting. Made from artificial fur, low-density foam, high-density foam, and canvas, these balls, like most balls in all forms of course, are made to work with one another.
The outside 9 balls of this sofa are filled with low-density foam, while the other 40 balls are filled with high-density foam. Between every three balls there is, of course, a gap, through which another ball can fit and stay put. Each of the 9 perimeter balls can be squished, put through the gap and let go to expand and stay!
Thusly! There can be a whole LOT of different shapes this thing can be. At the height of it’s power, the Daydreamer can accommodate 7 adults. Seven! Then if you want to wash it, have no fear! The fur outer can empty out the foam inner with a simple zipper opening, allowing for the fur to be cleaned easily at the dry cleaner or just in the wash like a normal pair o pants.
