The interior and exterior revamp of Cari de Madame by Taipei Base Design Center is as simplistic as this curry cafe’s menu! The project originally took inspiration from the Chinese word for “diner” … “can-ting”. “Can” references the meal, which is in front of “ting”, the eating place. This informed the open layout and high visibility between chef’s quarters and customer.
Contrasting design details in yellow and black define the food preparation area and dining area with room for around 30. A clever addition (notice above the bar) are built-in holders for indicator cards that visitors can hand over to indicate their food choices. It’s even simple to order!
