Designed to be a part of Louis Vuitton’s “Objets Nomades” collection, the Concertina chair by London-based design studio Raw-Edges is foldable… but not the kind of foldable you’d expect.
In a move that really challenges the notion of form-following-function, the Concertina’s design is driven more by form-follows-movement. Opening up like a Japanese fan, the chair uses angled “blades” to turn the fan into a chair. A zip on the back, and an elegant clasp on the front lock the chair in seating-mode. Once done, you can immediately collapse it back into a closed fan. But this fan’s for your fanny, if you get what I mean!
