But, LEGO is no more considered child’s play! Master builders, artists, and LEGO enthusiasts all over the world are creating impressive LEGO builds that’ll blow your minds away. They are a result of their hours of dedication, attention to detail, hard work, and creativity. They can be considered works of art, and I love scrolling through these creations, admiring them, and feeling an intense surge of satisfaction at their perfection. And, we’ve curated the best of the lot for you to drool and go gaga over!
1. LEGO JWST Model
Just like the real JWST, this LEGO JWST model folds into a stowed position for launch, features all of the major moving components, and is roughly to scale with a standard LEGO Minifigure”, reads the project description on the LEGO Ideas forum. The replica even comes with the 18 iconic hexagon mirrors that make up the telescope’s light-gathering reflector module. The miniature LEGO replica comes with every single conceivable component of the JWST, including even the secondary hinged mirror and that layered sun shield at the bottom.
2. The Clockwork Solar System
Standing at an impressive 20.5 inches tall and 30 inches wide, this LEGO Ideas entry doesn’t just demonstrate the solar system’s movement, but it does so while staying true to each planet’s orbit time. The Clockwork Solar System from LEGO builders Chris Orchard and Brent Waller is a nearly 3000-brick marvel that replicates our solar system’s celestial dance with 99.8% accuracy while a set of clocks at the bottom even count down the year while the planets rotate around the sun.
3. The new LEGO Back to the Future Time Machine
The new LEGO Back to the Future Time Machine is improved, detailed, and better than ever. The jazzed-up build features a Flux Capacitor light brick, gull-wing doors, and printed dashboard dates. You can add the different equipment from the different parts of the movie – including the lightning rod from the first film, and the hood-mounted circuit from Part III!
4. LEGO Razor Crest
The first LEGO Star Wars set of its kind in the LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series, this collectible building set makes a wonderful gift for all Mandalorian fans: young and old. The build is pretty detailed, but when achieved, it allows a fan to reimagine the Din Djarin’s starship on screen in bricks. The 6,186-piece set measures over 72 cm long and it comes with mini figures to inspire role play, which is enhanced by the detailing and intricacies of the build.
5. LEGO Cats
One of the most popular and intricate LEGO Ideas winners is Cheng’s Vincent Van Gogh’s Starry Night and now one of his ideas has reached the second 2022 review stage. Simply called LEGO Cats, this is a pair of spiffy-looking cats that are made from the ever-popular bricks that kids and adults play around with. The LEGO Ideas review board will now decide if this is one of the projects that will go to the next round but the competition is pretty stiff as there are 46 other designs that have made it so far.
6. The MelGeek Pixel mechanical keyboard
The MelGeek Pixel mechanical keyboard uses a “LEGO-inspired” system that lets you customize almost every part of the keyboard. Both the front and the back of the keyboard are like blank slates, and you can create any blocky design you want. You can even set up mini-figures on top to give the keyboard a unique flair. Of course, you’ll have to make sure those don’t get in the way of your typing.
7. The LEGO OLED Brick
The idea for the LEGO OLED brick originally came to Brown while he was sourcing tiny displays to make a keyboard with OLED keys that changed based on different scenarios. As soon as the idea to put an OLED display into a LEGO brick came to Brown, he soon pivoted, focusing all his efforts on making it happen. The result is nothing short of fantastic. To save on cost, Brown used a black and white display for this project, although it’s probably a matter of time before miniature color OLEDs make their way into bricks. Sign me up for that future, please.
8. The Atari 2600
This LEGO set is a follow-up to the Nintendo Entertainment System comprising 2,646 pieces – but one can’t deny the Atari 2600 set’s significantly higher perceived value. To keep things interesting for gamers who love anything classic from the 70s or 80s, there are the three cartridges of the classic games – Asteroids, Adventure, and Centipede – slidable into the main body of the brick console. Each of the games also gets a matchable mini figurine to complete the look.
9. The G-Shock Mudmaster
Modeled after a timepiece from one of the most iconic rugged wristwatch brands, this G-Shock Mudmaster will most likely fool you into thinking it’s the real deal. You see, the LEGO brick’s inherent chunky, blocky design lends exceptionally well to the G-Shock’s rugged brand language. The design comes from the mind of LEGO Builder Pedro Jimenez, who submitted this concept to the LEGO Ideas forum where it’s currently racking up votes in a bid to turn the one-off build into a readily available LEGO box set.
10. LEGO “I Am Groot”
Modeled on the popular Marvel sentient tree who can only utter the words “I Am Groot”, this little figurine does a pretty good job of being an actual action figure that you can build and then play with. Made from 467 bricks, the Baby Groot statue is ideal for kids above the age of ten and Marvel fans well into their adult years. The I Am Groot build sports movable limbs with adjustable fingers too, and a perpetually smiling face that is reminiscent of the dancing Baby Groot from the second Guardians of the Galaxy movie!
