One of my favorite times of the day is bathtime! As, we’ve grown older and life has gotten super hectic, bathtime is that precious hour of the day when we can fully indulge in self-care, and pamper ourselves. Whether that’s in the form of a bubble bath or a long warm shower! And having a beautifully designed bathroom with thoughtful designs will only amplify this special time of the day. These products can make a huge difference in our everyday bathroom experience. They not only help us carry out our personal and grooming activities even more easily, but they also help us take care of ourselves and our washrooms a little better. From a bathtub and shower designed by Kohler to help you achieve ‘stillness’ while bathing to a cleverly designed dual-sided shower scrubber – these well-designed products are all you need to elevate your daily bathtime!
1. The Tandem Shower
Bathroom fixtures can often be a pain to integrate into your bathroom, however, the Tandem shower is designed to attach directly to your existing showerhead! The easy-to-install no-plumber-required shower accessory distributes your shower into two distinct streams. Although perfect for couples, the Tandem Shower also makes a pretty compelling case for solo showers with a much more luxurious, immersive 360° shower experience.
Why is it noteworthy?
The Tandem Shower comes with an adjustable design, allowing it to fit in most bathrooms. It connects directly to your existing showerhead’s water inlet, which effectively distributes the water supply between the two showerheads. A valve on the Tandem Shower then lets you effectively switch between either of the showerheads or run both simultaneously. It’s worth noting that the Tandem Shower was also designed keeping other considerations in mind – for starters, it comes with a flexible hose that lets you mount your Tandem with plenty of clearance, allowing for a second showerhead that’s much higher than your current one (especially useful for taller people).
What we like
- Comes mounted on a ball and socket joint, letting you angle-adjust your water flow as you would with the existing shower
What we dislike
- Space consuming design
2. Face à face
Italian bathroom brand Agape partnered up with French architect Jean Nouvel to create a beautiful collection of sinks and baths. The name Face à face is derived from the dual meaning of the word ‘face’ in French. Face á face quite literally translates to ‘surface’, and ‘human face’. The unique name is meant to convey the materiality of the products, as well as their functionality in the process of bathing.
Why is it noteworthy?
The collection essentially consists of a stunning sink and a bathtub. Both products have a pretty angular feel to them and are highlighted by upright slabs of marble, as well as a tilted backrest in the tub. The slanted backrest was featured to give the impression that both sides of the bathtub are standing like separate pieces, rather than being connected.
What we like
- Celebrates the beauty of marble
- Showcases the detail, veining, and sheer simplicity of the stone
What we dislike
- Not ideal for homes with tiny bathrooms
3. Kohler Stillness Bath and Statement Shower
At the Salone del Mobile 2022, Kohler displayed a collection of inspiring products, once again proving how committed it is to helping us have a truly transcendental bathing experience. Kohler’s range of products included the Statement Shower and Stillness Bath, both of which aim to be excellent for the mind, body, and soul.
Why is it noteworthy?
The Stillness Bath is a thoughtfully-designed product able to offer intelligent solutions for our bathroom at home. It is an experimental bath system that combines water, light, fog, and even scent to create a wonderful and immersive experience for the senses. Kohler’s Statement Shower Collection enters the game and delivers a range of unique products in different sizes and shapes, including sprays that are compatible with any kind of bathroom, anywhere in the world. The collection features aesthetics that are elegant, sophisticated, and quite contemporary.
What we like
- Inspired by Japanese forest bathing
- Focuses on physical and mental well-being
What we dislike
- No complaints!
4. Air Spa
Drying yourself with a towel after having a bath seems pretty old school, and a rather tedious process to me. Not to mention, it consumes a whole bunch of time, and I suppose BDCI design was on the same page when they designed ‘Air Spa’…a body dryer! Yes, you read that right. The South Korean design consultancy created a dryer for your body, and defines it as a “refreshing bathroom experience”. The tall vertical appliance blows out air to dry your body after you take a shower.
Why is it noteworthy?
Now, this is where the spa bit of ‘Air Spa’ comes into play! The appliance’s unique form and height support various little holes that blow out air. These ‘air holes’ feature multiple layers, and can be positioned vertically or horizontally, however, you prefer. So, you have air blowing at you from different angles and positions, mimicking the experience of a massage or spa. It’s almost like a wind bath if you ask me. And, it could be the ultimate last step in unwinding after a long day at work.
What we like
- Air Spa’s interesting height makes it perfect for users of all ages. The vertical appliance can be used for children and adults alike
- Reduces our laundry load!
What we dislike
- Unsuitable for homes with tiny bathrooms and space constraints
5. Angle
We could always do with a new and interesting wash basin, since the regular ones can tend to get boring. This concept for a ceramic washbasin is called Angle. It provides a completely different look for a sink, and is a far cry from the normal ones. But this isn’t just something decorative as the design is actually to make it easier for the water to go down the drain.
Why is it noteworthy?
The washbasin uses curved and triangular surfaces from the faucet to the basin itself. The drain is actually a tiny opening at the corner of the basin so all the water that comes out of the faucet will just flow towards there without you having a visible drain. The V-shaped basin makes it easier to drain the water.
What we like
- The V shape makes it easier for the water to drain
What we dislike
- Not sure what will happen if there are some particles that will not slot through the pretty thin drain at the corner
6. The Sprig Shower Infusion System
At this year’s CES, Kohler unveiled the future of bathing! Called, the Sprig Shower Infusion System, this innovative shower infusion system promises to let you relax and unwind as you bathe. How does it do so? Its simple! It includes a device that can be attached to any showerhead, which lets you add ‘Sprig Shower Pods. These pods infuse the water with a rather soothing and pleasant aroma, that helps you rejuvenate as you bathe!
Why is it noteworthy?
Kohler is building on this system with a range of pods that offer a variety of fragrances like eucalyptus, chamomile, rose, lavender, and lemongrass, along with minerals and ingredients that are supposedly good for your skin, like hyaluronic acid and sodium. According to The Verge, each pod provides infusions for “several minutes.”
What we like
- Provides a therapeutic experience as we bathe
- Comes in a wide variety of fragrances
What we dislike
- No complaints!
7. The K-25 Smart Bath Towels
A fast-drying towel is the dream and one that quite honestly seemed pretty far off. But not anymore! The team behind K-25 Smart Bath towels spent years in research and development to finally create one: a giant waffle weave towel that soaks water as a super-sponge. They have a big community of cult-like following around the world, for a reason.
Why is it noteworthy?
Design similar to our breakfast favorite waffle comes with a load of benefits. The waffle texture gently exfoliates your skin, while the waffle honeycombs help the towel easily absorb all the water in one quick pass. It also dries itself twice faster, thanks to an airy weave and breathability. Being surprisingly lightweight, but feels thick, fluffy, and soft on the skin. Great for the hair too, as it soaks all the moisture quickly eliminating the frizz. The towels are generously sized, so you can easily wipe your entire body with them, and comfortably wrap it around your waist when you’re done.
What we like
- Created to be naturally antibacterial
- Thanks to its waffle texture, it is quick-drying too, so you’re never faced with a damp towel because it didn’t sufficiently dry off
What we dislike
- No complaints!
8. The Shower Scrubber
Designed by Casamera, the Shower Scrubber features a unique dual-sided design, that lets you pick between the two sides – a softer side great for massaging, and an exfoliating side to get rid of all the dry skin! The Shower Scrubber comes with a radical new redesign, sporting a honeycomb pattern on one side, to open your skin pores, and a walnut-shell textured surface on the other side, for scrubbing off dead cells to leave your skin shining.
Why is it noteworthy?
Konjac sponges have been on the market for ages galore, and they’ve been designed and redesigned in quite a few forms, however, the Shower Scrubber unlocks its true potential with its design and various infusions. The large guitar-pick-shaped design comes with a honeycomb texture on one side, inspired by Casamera’s waffle-textured towels. The honeycomb texture helps gently massage and pamper the skin (especially around the face), open the pores, and more importantly, is incredibly effective at building up a lather. The other side, however, is a textural contrast, as the sponge comes with particles of walnut shells suspended within the surface, offering an exfoliating experience that’s great at removing dead skin on your body to reveal shining, supple, radiant skin underneath.
What we like
- Dual sides to meet the different needs of your skin
- Biodegradable
What we dislike
- Not sure how well it would work on sensitive skin, could be harsh on it
9. The K25 Bathrobe
Say hello to the K25 bathrobe! This lightweight, absorbent, and odor-resistant bathrobe features a waffle-like texture that makes it not only super easy to dry but also super thin. Thinner fabric means it dries faster too and leaves you feeling comfortable without that familiar-yet-avoidable musty dampness.
Why is it noteworthy?
It comes made from 100% natural combed cotton, is breathable, has a hoodie (to dry your hair too), and has been amped with a feature that is really quite useful in these modern times – it comes with two well-sized pockets for carrying your phone, tablet, or other belongings around.
What we like
- Lightweight and absorbent
- Super comfy and cozy to wear
What we dislike
- No complaints!
10. The Yoku Towel
If you’re looking for a soft and cozy towel, that feels as comfy as your favorite blanket, then the YOKU towel is the one for you. The YOKU towel feels like hugging a polar bear. Made from the softest and finest Suvin cotton (often referred to as White Gold), the towels are devotedly hand-crafted in Imabari, a Japanese town that’s perfected the art of towel-making.
Why is it noteworthy?
Supported by a dense history in towel-making spanning over 120 years, it’s safe to say that the craftspeople in Imabari know a thing or two about towel-making. Designed to be the equivalent of silk clothing, the Yoku towels wrap you in soft luxury. They’re so soft that they come recommended for babies too, and are designed to be extremely gentle on their delicate skin. The towels are meant for wiping, but they’re also meant for everything else. They act as comforters, are soft enough to be hugged, or even used as security blankets.
What we like
- Hand-crafted in Imabari, a small town in Japan
- Weaved using 100% Suvin cotton
- Perfect for those who love softer and cozier towels
What we dislike
- No complaints!
