At Yanko Design, we believe in constantly innovating, creating, and evolving. It’s a philosophy that serves as a lifeline for us, and one of the results of this lifeline is the YD x KeyShot Inspiration Hub! The Inspiration Hub is our ‘ever-expanding encyclopedia’ of design work for you to participate in, to inspire designers, and to get inspired by. Created in collaboration with KeyShot, the Inspiration Hub is your one-stop space for inspiration where designers like you can submit your impressive designs and be awarded to stand out in the crowd and to inspire other like-minded designers.
To kickstart your journey and send some motivation your way, we’ve curated some of our favorite gaming designs from the Inspiration Hub. These unique and uber-cool gaming devices will motivate you to create something spectacular and submit the design, as a gateway to sharing it with the best of the design world. Additionally, we will also be picking our favorite Design of the Week, Design of the Month, and Design of the Year – every week, month, and year from the submissions on the Inspiration Hub. Keep an eye on our Instagram page and the Inspiration Hub to see if your design gets picked. Fingers crossed!

1. SnapJoy Controllers
The SnapJoy controllers were designed by Zak Boardman, and they exist independently as left and right devices. They barely occupy any space, and they’re super easy to carry around wherever you go! The two controllers come apart and are the size of ergonomic mice, and you can quickly and efficiently attach them to the phone in your pocket.
2. AirShock
Say hello to AirShock! Designed by Running Guy Studio, this innovative and unique PlayStation controller features an inflatable and puffy body, instead of the curvy and bulky forms we usually see in controllers. The AirShock puffs up to its full size when it’s being used, and it allows you to play comfortably while adjusting to the contours of your palm.
3. AI Jects’ Gaming Controller
Designed by AI Jects, this minimal and sleek gaming controller is soft with smooth rounded edges. It has a clean and simple aesthetic, one that instantly puts you at ease, an interesting contrast compared to the traditionally techy and loud controllers that feature a sharp form and darker matte colors. The color palette selected is neutral, calming, and inviting.
4. Voronoi PS5 Controller
Designed by Tomassini Design, this organic Voronoi PS5 controller features an intriguing Voronoi pattern in its design. This gives the dark black controller a rather skeletal and raw appeal, elevating its oomph factor, and giving it an uber-cool and deadly appearance. At the moment, the controller seems to be a concept, but I’m sure gamers would love to see such a controller in reality!
5. PlayBoy
Designed by AI Force One, this intriguing-looking Game Boy-esque gaming device is called the PlayBoy. The sleek and menacing device is topped with a matte black aesthetic, sharp protruding buttons, and intricate detailing. The body and shell of the device are pretty sturdy and hard, giving the PlayBoy a mean appeal.
6. REACT
Designed by Rahul Chhapia, and called REACT, this refreshing concept ideation has caught my eye for its sheer functional merit courtesy of the ergonomic design for maximum immersion. The next-generation accessory brings into the equation a layered immersive experience to respond to the interactions in the most engaging manner.
7. Wizard Wireless Controller
NYXI launched the Wizard Wireless Controller, which is meant to be quite similar to the WaveBird (the most popular Switch controller out there), but with the bonus advantage of never getting bothered by the Joy-Con drift. Countless Switch users have been bugged by this problem that in a way hampers their in-game performance, and hopefully, this will be the lasting solution they’re longing for.
8. The Retroid Pocket Flip
The Retroid Pocket Flip is designed to be a cross between the DS and the GBA SP. It has a single screen and a more horizontal clamshell design. It has a conventional and comfortable form factor, and despite its old-fashioned looks, it has a lot of modern gaming features, including a basic set of controls, and both bumper and trigger buttons.
9. Apple Vision Joystick Pro Max
Just like the Meta Quest Touch Pro controllers that bring a new level of realism to VR gaming, the Apple VR headset is also destined for a similar accessory. This concept visualizes exactly how the Apple Vision Pro controllers would look and feel in an open-world Metaverse. The designer Alex Casabo calls the accessory “Apple Vision Joystick Pro Max” and a proactive third-party accessory maker or even Apple would already be looking up that name to claim.
10. Nintendo Switch Cloud Dock
Designed to make it look like your Switch is nestled amongst Japanese clouds, Holoprops’ dock really turns your piece of tech into beautiful sculptural home decor. Moreover, the model is also carefully designed to make sure it doesn’t obstruct the airflow of the Switch while it’s docked or the cables at the back.
