The industrial style aesthetic of Jumping Hour Watch was determined by its physical processes alone. The goal was to make clear the jumping hours mechanism in a multilayered case that gives viewers a window into the timepiece’s complex inner workings. Details of the mechanism can be seen through glass insets on the sides of the multi-level casing. The resulting aesthetic is similar to an up-close, inside view of an elegant clocktower.
However, time is displayed not with hands, but with rotating discs. The outer disc (the jumping hour) made as a grid covering 11 sectors and leaving one sector opened and showing number of the current hour. Two inner discs display minutes and seconds respectively, using small rotating gears which create a beautiful motion effect.
