Oh Tom Ford, where are you when the world needs you most? I am sure he is turning over in his $98,000 sheets and just woke up from a nightmare where he saw the luxury empire he masterfully helped re-create crumbling all around him into a tacky abyss. Take a look at this pandering disaster a certain Miss Frida Giannini, creative director at Gucci, has let get past the gates of hell. Gucci is somehow “proud” to announce the Special (as in retarded) Collection dubbed “8-8-2008 Limited Edition” to commemorate the 2008 Olympic games. And if by “limited” let’s all hope it’s limited to just these pictures. It would seem that Miss Giannini pretty much tackled some Harajuku girl and stole all her possessions, dipped them in red paint and stuck Gucci logos on them. What, no mobile phone trinkets? Tom, please come back and lay a smack down on this situation before it’s too late.

As for the bold red that permeates this standout collection, Frida comments: “Not only does red evoke “Happiness” and “Celebration” – two emotions that couldn’t be more appropriate to describe the excitement in the world of sports – but it also happens to be a very fashionable color for 2008! I also designed just 8 products for this collection, which mirror the lucky number 8 in Chinese culture”.
I-Gucci watch is Gucci’s first ever digital timepiece. Its clean digital face (which features both numerical or clock hand formats), black dial and steel frame. The surface of its red monochrome rubber strap is engraved with the Gucci logo on the exterior, while the interior has been embossed with Gucci’s iconic GG pattern.
Except for the I-Gucci watch all other designs from this limited collection will be sold exclusively in Hong Kong and mainland China.
