For many of us, chalk is a familiar fragment from childhood that we cherish still today. Many would have a hard time resisting doing a little doodle given a slab of sidewalk and stick of chalk. Now, this clever twist on chalk allows anyone from kids to grownups to exercise their imagination in an entirely new way.
Designer Nikolas Bentel calls them “chalk drawers” and they’re designed to create original patterns, shapes and lines with geometrical precision. Each of the three different options creates a different and unique pattern that changes as the chalk wears. The chalk drawers are currently on view at The New Museum’s window display in NYC’s East Village. You can also find them for sale at The New Museum’s Store!
