We’ve all dreamt about shooting blue shells at the car in front of us and dropping banana peels to screw up traffic during rush hour! I know I have. For now we’ll have to keep dreaming, but at least we can take some of our road-rage out on this bad@$$ hybrid one-seater recreational vehicle that’s reminiscent of one very familiar race-kart.
The design combines combustion and electric technologies into one hybrid hyper-kart that will make your head spin.
The internal combustion engine is an 160 cc 4-stroke, overhead valve, 5.5 hp at 3600rpm, with centrifugal clutch. A 4L gas tank gives it a range of approximately 16 miles with continuous use.
Alternatively, the electric motor operates at 48 volts, 3600 rpm with a torque of 30 Nm at 5500 watts, with an efficiency of 69%, with variable voltage DC power that feeds on 4 batteries in parallel, 12V 110 amps each, generating a range of 1 hour of continuous use, requiring about 6 hours of connection to 220V to be recharged. Like the combustion engine, it can use the same transmission with optimum transmission ratio.
With both engines running in tandem, the vehicle has a range of approximately 4 hours in continuous use.
As for security- the chassis is made of alloy steel and the fairings were designed to hide all functional components, protecting the user from exposure to high-temperature materials, fluids, and chafing. The fairing design also envelops the cockpit, putting the user in a central position to shield from side collisions.
A multifunctional steering wheel features a button that cuts engine power on the spot and regulating power of the electric motor. Additionally, pedals can be adjusted up to 20cm to accommodate both children and adults.
The chair is made of lightweight fiberglass and foam upholstered in recycled polypropylene, and is lined in recycled leather to improve ergonomics and prevent common bruises on the lower back.
